Home Energy Efficiency Rebates
There’s never been a better time for homeowners to insulate with Green Home and save money. Across the country there are federal, state and local utility company incentives and rebates. Depending on location, you could qualify to save a substantial amount on insulation project costs. View a table or map of state, local, utility, and federal incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency on the Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE).
Home Star
HOMESTAR is proposed new legislation to create jobs in existing industries by providing strong short-term incentives for energy efficiency improvements in residential buildings. The program will act as a bridge to long-term market development of existing industries. This initiative establishes a $6 billion rebate program to encourage immediate investment in energy-efficient appliances, building mechanical systems and insulation, and whole-home energy efficiency retrofits. HOMESTAR will rapidly create jobs in both construction and manufacturing, while saving families money on their energy bills. It will build on current state programs and existing industry capacity for performing both retrofits and quality assurance, using federal standards and incentives as a common platform to lower program costs and increase consumer awareness. Consumers in the program are expected to save between $200 and $500 per year in energy costs while improving the comfort and value of their homes.
The House program would offer rebates up to $3,000 for investments in building improvements such as insulation, window sealing and more efficient water heaters, and additional rebates for higher energy savings. The co-sponsors said it would save families nearly $10 billion in energy bills, not including the cost of investments.
